The more songs I write, the more I notice a thread.

The Ancestors.

They are there between the lines, in the passing phrases I don’t think too much about.

They are there in the metaphors that melt me into tears.

They are there, strong and vibrant, in my songs devoted to death.

The Ancestors have been lending a hand into every song I write.

And I must say…I ain’t sad about it.

If anything, I am honored to be a vessel.

To use my voice in the creation of art that touches my kin, blood and otherwise.

Whether one person hears the song, or a million. The simple act of creation satisfies the soul’s longing for connection.

And at the end of the day aren’t we all longing for connection?

This. is what Songs from beyond brings with it…aside from the creative act of songwriting, aside from the ancestral veneration, there is a re-connection and deepening of relationship that this adventure promises.
